The Salmon Arm Museum and Heritage Association, operating as R.J. Haney Heritage Village, is a registered non-profit society that relies on donations, grants and revenue generating events to continue operations and capital projects.
The property and village is owned by the City of Salmon Arm with the Salmon Arm Museum and Heritage Association operating it under contract. The city gives a generous annual grant and some work in kind. Other major supporters are the BC Arts Council and a Direct Access Grant through the Gaming Commission. The businesses and service clubs of Salmon Arm and area are also great supporters of our various events and projects, both monetarily and with donations of specific items. Volunteers are a very important source of funds and help. We continually have operating fund shortages and certainly capital project deficiencies.
Being a museum and heritage village depicting the early 1900’s we are always looking for donations of items and paper records, journals, etc. from this era to use in the archives and in our displays. Before you discard those old items give the curator a phone call at 250-832-5289.
If you are interested in supporting projects or events please contact us and ask for the General Manager. We can discuss the various ways in which we need help and what area of the operation you may be interested in supporting.
The support of the community is essential so that we may collect, preserve, exhibit and educate the citizens of the Shuswap and its visitors.
R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum is continually striving to improve its’ programs, collections and develop the village to better reflect the heritage of Salmon Arm and area. It is the preservation of our history that will enable our children and newcomers to the area to appreciate what life was like in the early 1900’s. What a better way to serve our community than to make a bequest towards this goal. The everlasting tribute will ensure future progress to the village and museum and will be recognized on a donor’s wall in the new public gardens to be completed in 2008. Donations will be held in a trust fund by the Shuswap Community Foundation. If information is required to include us in your will and estate, please contact us at 250-832-5243. Memorial donations will be used as directed by the donor. Gifts are tax deductible and will be receipted. Mailing Address: Salmon Arm Museum and Heritage Association P.O. Box 1642 Salmon Arm, BC V1E 4P7
