Quilts in the Village – A Colourful Celebration of Quilting in the Shuswap

Quilts in the Village Returns July 12

Here’s What’s Happening!

Get ready for a colourful, creative, and truly local celebration—Quilts in the Village is back at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum on Saturday, July 12, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm! Presented in partnership with Thread & Paper and the Shuswap Quilters` Guild, this much-loved summer event weaves together the stories, artistry, and spirit of the quilting community across the Shuswap and beyond.

Admission is $15.00 at the gate. Visitors can enjoy a full day of quilt displays and event activities, including the Heritage Village, Montebello Gallery, Children's Discovery Centre, and trails. It's an experience that offers something for everyone—whether you're a quilting enthusiast, a history buff, or simply looking for a fun day out in Salmon Arm.

This year's featured guest is Lynn Knox, a gifted quilter, teacher, and pattern designer with over 35 years of experience. Known for her creative designs and friendly, down-to-earth teaching style, Lynn will showcase over 60 of her quilts, featuring machine embroidery, appliqué, piecing, and her signature doily embellishments. Don't miss her storytelling presentation, "A Quilted Journey," happening at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM in the Mt. Ida Church. Lynn's popular "Absolutely Obsessed" pattern line will also be available for purchase at the Sleep in Heavenly Peace tent.

Visitors can explore more than 200 quilts displayed throughout the Heritage Village—tucked into heritage buildings, strung between fence rails, and hanging proudly from porches. It's a one-of-a-kind chance to see the Village transformed into a living, breathing quilt gallery.

Special Exhibit: The Women Who Paved the Way
One highlight this year is the final quilt challenge by the Di-Versity Heritage Group. Their exhibit, "The Women Who Paved the Way," pays tribute to 14 remarkable Canadian pioneer women—one from each province and territory, plus Labrador. Each quilt is paired with a one-page story about the woman's life, celebrating the dreams, challenges, and contributions of women who helped shape our country. This touching exhibit marks the group's last collaboration following the retirement of its founder, Dianne Jansson.
