Volunteer Opportunities

“Volunteers are not paid – not because they are worthless but because they are priceless”

All registered charities offer opportunities for volunteers and R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum is no exception. Its very existence is dependent on your help.

Enjoy the unique experience of meeting new people while working in a heritage setting. There are a variety of areas to serve and not all require a large time commitment.

Click here to download the volunteer form, fill it out, and bring it in. We'd love it if you'd share your skills with us!

 Help is needed with:

Reception
Greet visitors and make them welcome as you explain the history of the R.J. Haney property, museum exhibits and events. You will also operate the gift shop in the same area.

Dinner Theatre
Help greet visitors, serve refreshments or lend your talents to the cook in the kitchen as people enjoy the July and August productions.

Construction/Maintenance
If you have special talents in carpentry or other trades, (or are just a good handyperson), then lend your skills. Ted McTaggart, Construction and Maintenance Manager, always  needs help with on-going maintenance and new projects. Large commitments of time are not necessary and your talents will be appreciated!

Gardening
The public garden, heritage garden around R.J. Haney House, pond area, and all forty acres of the Village site require a lot of care. If you enjoy gardening, then lend a hand for a few hours to help keep the property looking beautiful.

Events
Many volunteers are needed to make our special events a success. We require individuals to operate the entrance, help in Marjorie’s Tea Room, oversee parking, and run the ticket and raffle sales, as well as help with other activities associated with the event.

Benefits
Volunteers receive training while working in an historic, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. It is an opportunity to meet new people while sharing much needed skills. In return, volunteers get discounts in the gift shop and tearoom. An appreciation luncheon is held at the end of the season.

Have fun volunteering at R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum and donate a few hours to help the Museum Board meet its goal of collecting, preserving, displaying and educating people about the history of Salmon Arm and area.

Please contact us about opportunities to volunteer at 751 Highway 97B NE, Salmon Arm, B.C.
